PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
INTRODUCTION TO SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT
The School of Management (SOM) at AIT is Asia’s pioneer institution for management development programs in International Business and management of technology. The school was established in October 1987 to meet the growing need for managerial expertise in the Asia – Pacific region. To meet the growing demand for international training of experienced executive managers in International Business and Management of Technology, the International Executive MBA Program in Bangkok was started in 1997. In August 2000, this program was extended for middle and senior level managers in Vietnam through a joint effort with AITVN, Hanoi. In August 2004, the first IEMBA class opened in Ho Chi Minh City. The IEMBA Program has also been opened the first intake in Dong Nai in September 2007 and in Vung Tau November 2008.
Total number of alumni and participants of the IEMBA Program in Vietnam is more than 1200, many of whom have been holding key positions at top management level in both private and public sector.
THE PROGRAM OF STUDY
The EMBA program is conducted in English and can be completed in 12 months. The 15th & 20th entry of EMBA program in HCMC & Hanoi will be launched in September 2020.
For the convenience of working executives, the classes are conducted intensively 1 week in every month at AITVN (in Hanoi, HCMC, Vungtau) Monday – Friday evenings (3 hours each) and two Saturdays and Sunday. Actual in-class coursework will require some 14-15 weeks, apart from in-company project work and case studies.
During studying time, the program requires a period of 3-4 weeks residency at AIT (Thailand) dividing into 2 trips. The participants will take some courses during the first trip to AIT Campus. The last trip will be held in December 2018 when participant defend their final research and attend the Graduation Ceremony to receive Master Degree at AIT Campus. These trips will give participants an opportunity to become familiar with business environment outside Vietnam and joint with EMBA participants at AIT.
The iEMBA of 36 credits included 30 course credits and 6 project credits. It can be completed in 1 year. These courses can be concentrated in the dual focus of International Business and Technology Management which is a UNIQUE feature of the iEMBA in Vietnam. Another concentration can be stressed in decision making which is also a critical competency needed by executives.
COMPETITIVENESS
Vietnam’s level of industrialization, value added and productivity is still relatively limited. The concentration Technology Management will emphasize state of the art approaches in designing more effective organizations, innovative processes and advanced operations to be more competitive. Entrepreneurship will also be emphasized to be able to commercialize new products, services and processes and to support start- up to be able to grow and survive.
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
The increasing regional integration with AEC, RCEP, the FTA with the EU and other FTAs will require executives with advanced international competencies in strategy, finance, leadership and marketing. The iEMBA will continue to emphasize the combination of global, Asia Pacific best practices as they apply and can be adapted to Vietnam. This approach will also support Vietnamese companies who will be going regional or more international or executives who will have overseas assignments or projects.
DECISION MAKING
This concentration is about analyzing business situations, identifying and evaluating potential alternative and insuring the resources of the company are used in an efficient and effective way, particularly the financial resources. Business analytics will assess long term trends and determine potential scenarios for investment and growth. This will support international strategy and Entrepreneurship/ New Ventures. Managerial Economics will assess macro trends related to GDP and micro trends related to productivity. This will support competitiveness Accounting and Decision Making will provide the competencies necessary for financial management and evaluating potential alternatives on the basis of valuation, costs and benefits. This course will support international corporate finance.
FINAL PROJECT
The project provides the opportunity for participants to develop a practical strategy, innovation, new venture, business opportunity or organizational solution. It is designed to use the participants experience and to apply what they have learned in the iEMBA to benefit their organization and their career.

To be eligible for admission to the International Executive MBA Program, the applicant should:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of study from an institution of recognized standing;
- Have above average grades at the undergraduate level;
- Possess an acceptable level of English proficiency: TOEFL 500, IELTS 5.0, or pass the Entry Test of AIT; and
- Have a minimum of four years relevant work experience with at least two years at the management or senior professional level.
To apply for admission, an applicant must submit:
- A completed application form for admission including two letters of recommendation
- Graduate certificate (in English);
- An attested, detailed official transcript written in English; and
- A certificate of English proficiency
- A Curriculum Vitae (Maximum of 2 pages)
- A one page statement of objective for joining the program
- 4 recent 4 x 6 photographs
Selection
The selection to the program will be based on several criteria such as experience, accomplishments and level of responsibility of the applicant. In each group admitted, the School will seek a balanced mix of industries and specialist experience. The selection procedure emphasizes a dialogue with each applicant. The selected applicants will be informed of admission in July of the year.
