Courses on ESIA and IR in August 2017

The Vietnam Learning Center on Environmental and Social Sustainability (LC) was established in April 2015 under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam (AITVN) and its development partners, including the World Bank Group, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of the Australian Embassy. The center is being established with initial funding support from the Australian Government. Other development partners have committed to provide technical support. The mission of the LC is capacity building of relevant stakeholders of Infrastructure Projects in the short term and strengthening of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Process in Vietnam and the region in the long-term.

Since the establishment, The LC has successfully organized a number of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Involuntary Resettlement (IR) Courses in English and Vietnamese which highly satisfied international and local participants, coming from different organizations and different sectors. In response to the high demand of environmental practicers on the practical knowledge and skills on ESIA and IR through not only in-class training session but also an exposure to a real infrastructure project, the Learning Center in collaboration with an experienced team of environmental experts and its partners has developed a newly-designed course on ESIA and is planning to offer it in combination with an IR course in August, 2017 as follows:

v  EST01- TRAINING CUM FIELD VISIT ON ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT: in Hanoi and a Mega Infrastructure Project Site, August 07 - 11, 2017

v    SS01-INVOLUNTARY RESETTLEMENT COURSE: in Hanoi,  August 03-05, 2016
